Systemax Ranked #14 US Cataloger
Systemax has been ranked the 14th largest direct mail/print/cataloger in the United States by MultiChannel Merchant magazine (July/Aug 2010 edition). More importantly, of the top 14, Systemax was one of only a handful which had growth since 2008. Most actually had a decline in previous revenue.

Systemax ranked #45 Healthiest Public Retailer
According to the most recent TWICE magazine, Systemax has been named the #45 “Healthiest” Public retailer, based on such criteria as asset utilization, balance-sheet strength, sound growth and pricing power – as tracked over a five year period.
Systemax at #45 outranks other industry leaders such as hhGregg, PcConnection, PC Mall, Radioshack and Brookstone.

CompUSA is back — with an Internet-linked, in-store system that gives customers instant product information, including videos, and then allows them to compare prices charged by rivals.
The chain opened a new store in Euless in February and plans another in about a month in Arlington near Interstate 20 and Cooper Street. But it struggled to make profits as fierce competition ate into margins. Not even Mexico’s renowned investor Carlos Slim — Forbes magazine’s richest man in the world — could salvage the ailing chain after investing over $3 billion.

WStore – Systemax Completes Acquisition of European Business IT Supplier
Systemax Inc. (NYSE:SYX) today announced it has completed the previously-announced acquisition of WStore Europe, SA, a European supplier of business IT products with operations in France (Inmac WStore SAS and I-Com Software) and in the United Kingdom (WStore UK Limited). Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

SystemaxPC Wins Microsoft’s U.S. OEM PC Builder of the Year Award
SystemaxPC today announced that it has been awarded the US OEM PC Builder of the Year Award at the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference 2009, which took place from July 13-16 in New Orleans. The award recognizes SystemaxPC as the Number One builder of PCs in the US.
At this year’s conference Microsoft honored an elite group of partners for their commitment to their customers and for their success in extending the Microsoft Dynamics platform to “drive business advantages.” SystemaxPC was the winner among American manufacturers of PCs. The award also recognized Systemax’s double-digit year-to-year growth in the installation of the Microsoft Windows operating system on its PCs.

VP Kevin Hamann Profiled in Dealerscope
Hamann’s business savvy caught the attention of a Systemax manager, who promoted him first into marketing/advertising positions, then to business development and finally to product management. Hamann studied CE categories carefully, taking on projectors in 2002 and then adding flat panels to his portfolio as well.
