AMD Debuts Retail Display At TigerDirect
AMD and TigerDirect teamed up to develop and launch a Retail 2.0 enabled display to allow consumers to choose the exact type of system and build it with recommended components. The customer can alternatively choose a barebone to jump start their custom build, or choose from recommended OEM partner “ready to go” systems. A live webcast of the in-store demonstration will occur on 8/28/20 at 2PM EST at http://www.retail20.com/amd.

CompUSA is back — with an Internet-linked, in-store system that gives customers instant product information, including videos, and then allows them to compare prices charged by rivals.
The chain opened a new store in Euless in February and plans another in about a month in Arlington near Interstate 20 and Cooper Street. But it struggled to make profits as fierce competition ate into margins. Not even Mexico’s renowned investor Carlos Slim — Forbes magazine’s richest man in the world — could salvage the ailing chain after investing over $3 billion.

CompUSA Opening Three New Stores Featuring Retail 2.0
CompUSA® today announced the opening of three new retail stores: Houston, TX, Newark, DE, and Euless, TX. These new openings make a total of 32 CompUSA stores in the United States and Puerto Rico, each complete with “Retail 2.0®,” CompUSA’s powerful new shopping method.

CompUSA pitches in with South Florida Komen for the Cure
CompUSA and the other Systemax companies continue their support of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, including the rest of year outside of Pink Friday, our annual event. CompUSA has provided computers for the South Florida chapter as well as thousands of bags to be distributed during the Race on 1-30-10.

CompUSA provides Military Connection to Birth of Child
CompUSA is proud to announce their ability to provide a South Florida woman with the ability to have her husband “virtually” in the delivery room during their first child’s birth while he is stationed in Afghanistan. HP provided two laptops with built-in webcams to allow the use of Skype for this event. CA provided a $10,000 savings bond to Venesia to kick-start an education fund for the unborn child.

Digital TV Transition: CompUSA
DTV was estimated to take 9-10% of Americans by surprise, and when the switch happened – CompUSA was there to provide a solution. Along with local TV station WSFL, we helped educate the community regarding DTV – and even opened an hour early to accomodate last minute buyers of DTV boxes – with great success.

PC and television monitors not only display eye-catching clips, as they do in most retail chains; each points as well to the device’s product page on the compusa.com Web site. Shoppers can also check store inventories and even browse competitors’ sites to compare prices. “We want to give people the rich experience of buying online,” says a company spokesperson, who heads the chain’s retail strategy.
